FAQ

How often should I get a Massage?

Consulting with your massage therapist allows you to create a personalized treatment plan that suits your lifestyle & physical needs. Your therapist is working with you to support your health by providing repair, rejuvenation, and maintenance.  Depending on the complexity of your treatment will determine how often you should visit.  Clients that are coming in for maintenance usually enjoy a treatment every 3 - 4 weeks.

I am self-conscious about___ what should I do?

It's completely normal to have areas of the body that make us feel self-conscious, and it's great that you're considering seeking help from a registered therapist. As an RMT my primary goal is to help you relax & alleviate tension, not to make your feel uncomfortable or exposed. If you're concerned about a specific area, don't hesitate to tell me & ask me to avoid it. You can also opt for a fully clothed massage, which can be just as beneficial and comfortable. Wear loose comfortable clothing to ensure a relaxed experience.

Do I have to take all my clothes off?

No. You should only undress to your own comfort level. Professional draping is always used, and only the area being treated will be uncovered.

Is massage painful?

Mild soreness can happen, especially after deeper work, but many effective massages leave people feeling more comfortable rather than sore.  During your massage you & your therapist should be checking in with each other. If the therapist is using too much pressure you should let the therapist know. If the massage is too light you should also let the therapist know. This is your experience, your time to relax & heal, don't be shy, communicate with your therapist.

I don't have pain, should I still see a massage therapist?

Absolutely! Massage isn't just for pain relief. It can be a great preventative treatment. Regular massages can help relax tight muscles, increase blood flow, lower blood pressure, lower cortisol levels, and raise serotonin levels to calm and relax the body.

What if I forgot to shave my legs?

Please don't worry. Massage therapists don't judge body hair. Your therapist is focused on helping you feel better, not whether you've shaved.

What if I fall asleep?

It happens all the time! Many people become so relaxed that they drift off during their massage.
